As the group gathered at the store in Yamhill, Rick showed everyone what he had in mind for the day. From the store we headed to Menefee Park where we stopped to allow people to air down and lock in the hubs and such. (pic or_24_ .jpg) Rick checked out a 4X4 trail at the park but found a "No Trespassing" sign. About a mile out of the park, the group went left on 2.5.1-0, a 4X4 trail that was supposed to take us to Wilkison Rd. As we ventured up the road, the group encountered several downed trees which we removed thanks to Travis' trusty Stihl. After about a mile and several downed trees, the road ended and we had to turn back. This is when Brent's Samurai's transfer case got stuck and he had to be tow/coasted out to the head of the road where he parked his rig and hopped in with Trevor in the Isuzu. The Samurai would later be towed to Denny's house. After dropping off the Zuke, the group headed down the Turner Creek Rd. about 4.5 miles to the old site called Neverstill. Then we drove down Flora Mainline, past Camp One to Murphy's Camp. There was a large mud hole at Murphy's Camp, but no one wanted to attempt it after hearing that Denny had punctured a tire there recently. However we did get to kick up a little mud that was in the area. From there the group headed out the Scar where we all enjoyed a great loose rock and dirt hill climb to the top for lunch. The sky was clear and the view was great. The group then headed down Murphy's Grade about a mile towards Ginsburg Point with a detour on the "Play Hill". That's were Denny cracked his transmission in half while bouncing up the hill in 2WD. He was quite puzzled because this is the second time it had happened and he had just installed new engine, & transfer case mounts to try and correct the problem. As the owner of a '71 Chev, I am also curious as to what caused the TH 350 to crack in half. After parking his Blazer, Denny hopped in with Rick and we continued down 4X4 roads to Ginsberg Point. This was the most challenging part of the trip for most of us. Travis cruised right up with his locked at both ends Blazer. There was some competition between the Land Cruiser and the CJ-5 and Mike Millen discovered that airing down can make the difference. Jordan made it up after a few tries with his basically stock Toyota pickup. Rick and I both had carburetor problems. Rick made a valiant effort with his new tires. I see Proinjection in my Chevy's near future.... After playing on Ginsburg for quite a while we headed down the other side and Mike Millen started having shift linkage problems with his CJ-5. It was an easy trail fix at this point. We all headed down Murphy's Grade to Murphy's Camp, then on to Toll Road. At this point the group split up. Travis and Denny(towing Denny's Blazer) went back up to Flora Mainline and out Turner Creek. Trevor and Brent followed to pick up Brent's Samurai. The rest of us still had a bit of wheeling to do. We went down to Pinball (2.6.23-1), which is directly off of Toll Road. By this point it was dark and this added a challenging twist to the 1.25 miles of 4X4 trail we encountered. After Pinball, we ended up on Old Railroad Grade and then on to Pike Road, just south of were we started. We aired up at the service station in Yamhill and went our separate ways. With the possible exception of Denny's transmission, there were no major incidents and everyone seemed to have a great time.
